1st Generation Of Computer, Vacuum Tubes

First Generation- 1940-1946, Vacuum Tubes,

The first computer that is being used was the Vacuum Tubes technology. It use circuity and magnetic drums for memory. Taking up the entire rooms. Single drum can have up to 200 tracks . As the drum rotates at the speed up to 3000 rpm. The action is similar like a magnetic tape/ disk drive. This technologies can read and write.

This is very expensive to operate. This generates alot of heat, and have a great amount of electricity when this Vacuum Tubes is being used. This technology can only solve one problem at a time.

Vacuum Tubes use machine language. Only understood by a computers. Known as assembly language.

The UNIVAC and ENIAC computers are the examples of the first generation of computer devices. The UNIVAC and ENIAC was made around 1951. ENIAC stands for Electronic Numerical Intergrator And Computer. The ENIAC weighing 30 tons, using 200 killowats, of electric power consisting of 18.000 vacuum tubes, 1500 relay, and hundreds thousands resistor, capacitor and inductors.
